With an increasing number of pupils requiring additional support across EYFS and Key Stage 1, the school is seeking a compassionate and skilled Behaviour Mentor to join their team.
Role Overview
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support children who experience difficulties with emotional regulation, behaviour for learning, or social interaction. Pupils may present with SEMH needs, ASD, ADHD, speech and language delays, or attachment-related behaviours.
You will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to deliver targeted interventions and consistent behaviour strategies, helping children feel secure, supported, and ready to learn.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 emotional and behavioural mentoring
Deliver small group interventions focused on social and emotional skills
Support children within Nursery and classroom environments
Assist pupils during transitions and daily routines
Support behaviour during unstructured times
Implement behaviour support plans effectively
Use trauma-informed and play-based approaches
Collaborate with teachers, EYFS staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams
Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress
Contribute to review meetings and planning discussions
Build positive relationships with families and carers
Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards
The Ideal Candidate
You will be patient, nurturing, and emotionally intelligent, with a genuine passion for supporting young children. The school is seeking someone who understands that behaviour is communication and who can respond with empathy and professionalism.
You should have:
Experience working in a Primary, Nursery, or EYFS setting
Knowledge of SEND, SEMH, or trauma-informed practice
A calm and consistent behaviour management style
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Emotional resilience and flexibility
Experience in childcare, education, psychology, youth work, or mental health is highly desirable.
