This role is based at a large, inclusive primary school in Boston, Lincolnshire, with a thriving Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) provision. The school serves a diverse local community and has a strong reputation for early intervention, inclusive practice, and child-centred learning.
The EYFS setting is vibrant, well-resourced, and designed to support children with a wide range of needs, including those with emerging SEN, speech and language delays, social communication difficulties, and emotional regulation challenges.
Staff work closely with families and external professionals to ensure children are supported holistically during these crucial early years. Play-based learning, emotional wellbeing, and communication development sit at the heart of the EYFS curriculum.
The Role
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children aged 3–5 during their earliest experiences of formal education. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where children feel confident, supported, and ready to learn.
You will work alongside the class teacher to deliver play-based learning activities, support early phonics and numeracy, and provide targeted support to children who require additional help with communication, behaviour, or emotional regulation.
The role involves supporting children both individually and in small groups, observing progress, and contributing to assessments and learning journals.
Key Responsibilities
Support learning through play-based and structured EYFS activities
Assist with early phonics, language development, and number skills
Provide targeted support to children with emerging SEN needs
Support children with emotional regulation and social interaction
Help maintain routines, transitions, and positive behaviour
Observe and record children’s development and progress
Support personal care routines where required
Prepare learning resources and maintain EYFS areas
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and parents
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
Have experience working in EYFS or early years settings
Understand child development and the EYFS framework
Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic
Have strong communication skills
Be adaptable and proactive
Have experience supporting children with SEN (desirable)
Hold a Level 2 or 3 Early Years/TA qualification (preferred)
