About the Role
We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and nurturing EYFS Teaching Assistants to work in nursery and reception classes across Chesham, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, and surrounding Buckinghamshire areas. These roles are available on a full-time, part-time, long-term, and daily supply basis, offering flexibility to suit your availability.
This is an exciting opportunity to support children during the most important stage of their learning and development. You will play a vital role in helping young children feel safe, confident, and engaged as they develop early literacy, numeracy, communication, and social skills.
Key Responsibilities
As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting children aged 3–5 years within nursery and reception classes
Assisting the class teacher with play-based learning activities in line with the EYFS framework
Supporting children with phonics, early reading, mark making, and number recognition
Helping children develop communication, social, and emotional skills
Assisting with daily routines, including transitions, snack time, tidy-up time, and outdoor play
Providing one-to-one and small group support, including for children with additional needs
Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Observing children’s progress and feeding back to teaching staff
Supporting children with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, health & safety, and hygiene
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for EYFS Teaching Assistants who are:
Warm, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young children
Passionate about early childhood development
Calm and confident in supporting children with varying needs and abilities
Able to follow guidance while also using initiative
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Previous experience in EYFS, nursery, reception, or childcare settings is highly desirable, but we also welcome applicants with relevant transferable experience.
Requirements
To be considered, candidates must have:
Experience working with children (EYFS experience preferred)
A good understanding of child development and early learning
A strong awareness of safeguarding and child protection
The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Right to work in the UK
Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Childcare / Teaching Assistant qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
