History Teacher (ECT) – Ripley, Derbyshire – January 2026
A supportive and well-structured 11–18 secondary school in the Ripley area is seeking a History Teacher to join its Humanities department from January 2026. This post is ideally suited to an Early Career Teacher looking for a confident and well-supported start to their teaching career.
The History department has a clear, carefully sequenced curriculum and a strong track record of developing ECTs into confident practitioners. Collaboration, reflective practice and consistent routines are central to the department’s approach.
The role will involve:
Teaching History across KS3–KS4
Delivering enquiry-led lessons focused on source analysis and extended writing
Using shared schemes of work and assessments to support consistency
Working closely with an experienced subject mentor
Support for ECTs includes:
Reduced timetable in line with the ECT framework
Weekly mentoring meetings and regular instructional coaching
Structured CPD focused on planning, behaviour and assessment
Opportunities to observe experienced colleagues
