History Teacher (ECT) – Ripley, Derbyshire – January 2026

A supportive and well-structured 11–18 secondary school in the Ripley area is seeking a History Teacher to join its Humanities department from January 2026. This post is ideally suited to an Early Career Teacher looking for a confident and well-supported start to their teaching career.

The History department has a clear, carefully sequenced curriculum and a strong track record of developing ECTs into confident practitioners. Collaboration, reflective practice and consistent routines are central to the department’s approach.

The role will involve:

  • Teaching History across KS3–KS4

  • Delivering enquiry-led lessons focused on source analysis and extended writing

  • Using shared schemes of work and assessments to support consistency

  • Working closely with an experienced subject mentor

Support for ECTs includes:

  • Reduced timetable in line with the ECT framework

  • Weekly mentoring meetings and regular instructional coaching

  • Structured CPD focused on planning, behaviour and assessment

  • Opportunities to observe experienced colleagues

This is an excellent opportunity for a History ECT who wants to build strong foundations in a calm, professional environment.
