A Leading Education Recruitment Agency is working in partnership with a number of mainstream schools, SEMH provisions, and alternative education settings in Acton to recruit committed and resilient Behaviour Mentors. These schools support pupils who present with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma-related needs, and social communication challenges, and they are seeking professionals who can provide consistent, calm, and structured support.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor in Acton, you will work closely with pupils who struggle to engage with education due to SEMH needs, behavioural difficulties, adverse childhood experiences, or unmet SEN. Many pupils require support with emotional regulation, boundaries, routines, and positive decision-making. Your role will be pivotal in helping pupils remain in education and develop the skills needed to succeed both academically and socially.
You may work 1:1 with a specific pupil, support small groups, or work across a class or year group. Some roles involve supporting pupils during transitions, break times, or high-risk periods, where behaviour incidents are more likely to occur.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent, structured behaviour support in line with individual behaviour plans
Support pupils to regulate emotions and manage challenging behaviour positively
Use de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches
Build trusting, professional relationships with pupils
Act as a positive role model, promoting boundaries and expectations
Support pupils’ engagement with learning and school routines
Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals
Record and report behaviour incidents accurately
Uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies at all times

Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behaviour needs
Backgrounds in youth work, care, mentoring, education, or psychology welcomed

Strong communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply
