Role Information
The School Business Manager plays a critical strategic role within the senior leadership structure, overseeing finance, operations, estates, HR support, and compliance. Working closely with the Headteacher and Governors, you will ensure that the school’s resources are managed effectively to support long-term sustainability and continued improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and monitoring
Oversight of procurement, contracts, and value-for-money initiatives
Line management of administrative, finance, and site teams
Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, audits, and policies
Supporting HR processes, payroll coordination, and staffing structures
Contributing to whole-school strategy and development planning
Requirements
Proven experience in a School Business Manager or senior operational role
Strong financial management and strategic planning skills
Knowledge of education-sector compliance and governance (desirable)
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Ability to work at both strategic and operational levels
