A leading education recruitment agency is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work across a range of mainstream and specialist SEN schools in Islington. The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting pupils with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties. You may work on a 1:1 basis or with small groups, helping pupils access the curriculum, manage emotions, and develop social and academic skills.
You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs), behaviour strategies, and tailored learning approaches. The role requires patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group SEN support
Assist with differentiated learning activities
Support emotional regulation and behaviour management
Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence
Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children with SEN (school, care, or youth work)
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to adapt to different school settings
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
