The Opportunity

A well-regarded secondary school in York is seeking an Early Career Teacher of English to join its supportive and well-established English department. This role is ideal for an ECT looking to complete their induction in a nurturing, well-structured environment.

You will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a reduced timetable and access to high-quality shared resources to support your development.

English Teacher (ECT) – Key Responsibilities

  • Teach English across KS3 and KS4

  • Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons

  • Assess and monitor pupil progress with guidance

  • Work closely with a dedicated ECT mentor

  • Contribute to department planning and enrichment

The Ideal English ECT

  • Degree in English or related subject

  • QTS (or completing training)

  • Enthusiastic and reflective practitioner

  • Strong subject knowledge

  • Passionate about supporting student progress
