The Opportunity
A nurturing and inclusive primary school in Barnet is seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about early intervention and supporting young children with additional needs at a crucial stage of their development.
You will be working with pupils who present with Autism, speech and language needs, developmental delay, sensory processing difficulties, and social communication challenges. Support will primarily be 1:1, with additional small group work as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 SEN support to pupils in EYFS
Support communication, play-based learning, and social interaction
Assist pupils with emotional regulation and sensory needs
Implement structured routines and visual support strategies
Support learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
Observe and record pupil progress and development
Support pupils during transitions and unstructured play
Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Person Specification
Experience supporting young children with SEN is highly desirable
Patient, caring, and emotionally attuned approach
Understanding of early childhood development
Confident supporting communication and sensory needs
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
This role is particularly suitable for candidates with experience in EYFS, SEN nurseries, childcare, or early years SEN support.
