A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Camden is seeking a dedicated and nurturing EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to join its Early Years team. The Role
As an EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work with children in Nursery or Reception who require additional support to access learning. Pupils may present with needs such as autism spectrum condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, global developmental delay, sensory processing needs, or social and emotional challenges.
You will provide a mixture of 1:1 and small-group support, helping children to engage in learning activities, follow routines, and develop communication, independence, and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted SEN support in line with EHCPs and individual learning plans
Support access to the EYFS curriculum through play-based and structured activities
Promote communication, interaction, and social development
Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Use visual supports, routines, and sensory strategies where appropriate
Assist with personal care and toileting when required
Observe and record progress, sharing feedback with teachers and the SENCo
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection
Person Specification
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience supporting children with SEN, ideally in EYFS or a primary school
Be patient, empathetic, and emotionally attuned to young children
Have a good understanding of early childhood development
Be flexible, reliable, and proactive
Communicate effectively with children and adults
Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or SEN are desirable but not essential.
