A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Harrow is looking for a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from January. The school prides itself on high-quality SEN provision, strong pastoral care, and creating an environment where all pupils can flourish.
The school supports pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH needs, learning difficulties, and speech and language challenges, offering structured and personalised support. Staff receive ongoing training and work collaboratively to ensure every pupil is included and able to achieve their potential.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted 1:1 and small group support, assist in-class learning, and work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO. The role involves supporting pupils academically, emotionally, and socially to ensure they can fully participate in school life.
You will help pupils with focus, engagement, behaviour, and independence, implementing strategies from EHCPs and SEN support plans. You will also support social skills and provide pastoral care when needed.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1:1 and group support for SEN pupils
Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
Assist with classroom tasks and differentiated learning
Implement behaviour management strategies
Support emotional wellbeing and social skills development
Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers
Support transitions, breaks, and lunch periods
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience as an SEN TA in a primary school
Be patient, empathetic, and adaptable
Have strong communication and teamwork skills
Be confident supporting pupils with behaviour and emotional needs
Be committed to safeguarding and inclusion
