This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant passionate about making a real difference in children’s lives, providing both academic and emotional support.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with additional needs across the school. Your role will involve 1:1 support, small group interventions, and classroom assistance, ensuring that pupils are fully included in learning activities. You will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to implement strategies and ensure pupils make progress academically and socially.
You will also play a key role in supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing, helping them to build confidence, independence, and resilience. Your support will be essential in enabling pupils to engage with the curriculum and school life fully.
Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted 1:1 and small group SEN support
Assist pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and communication difficulties
Support classroom learning, including differentiated tasks
Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Implement strategies from EHCPs and SEN support plans
Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCO, and support staff
Assist during break, lunch, and transition periods
Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback
Candidate Profile

Have previous experience supporting SEN pupils in a primary school

Be confident in managing behaviour and supporting emotional needs
Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
