Working Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Pay Rate: £90–£105 per day (dependent on experience)
About the School
A large, inclusive and community-focused primary school in Enfield is seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their support team from January. The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos, strong leadership team and excellent SEN provision. Staff are well-supported, collaboration is encouraged, and pupil wellbeing is at the heart of everything they do.
The school supports pupils with a wide range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. This is an excellent opportunity for an SEN TA who is passionate about making a meaningful difference within a primary school environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff to ensure pupils with additional needs are able to access learning, feel supported emotionally, and make progress both academically and socially.
This role will involve a mixture of 1:1 support and small group work, depending on pupil needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils develop independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
Key Responsibilities
Providing tailored 1:1 and small group SEN support
Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD and communication needs
Assisting with differentiated classroom activities
Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management
Encouraging engagement, focus and positive interaction
Implementing strategies set out in EHCPs and support plans
Liaising with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
Supporting pupils during transitions and unstructured times
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be patient, reliable and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs. You should be confident working within a primary classroom and able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
Essential / Desirable:
Previous experience as an SEN TA or working with SEN children
Understanding of primary school routines and expectations
Calm, nurturing and resilient personality
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
