Maths Teacher (ECT) – Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire – January 2026
A large, improvement-focused 11–18 secondary school on the outskirts of Stoke-on-Trent is seeking a committed Maths ECT to join its collaborative Mathematics department from January 2026. This role is ideal for someone who values strong pastoral support, clear routines, and a department with a proven record of developing early career teachers.
The Role
You’ll teach Maths across KS3–KS4, with the option to gradually take on Year 12 Core Maths or A-Level modules later in the year if you feel ready. The department follows a carefully sequenced, mastery-informed curriculum built around fluency, reasoning and real-world application.
School Context
The school is rated Good, with behaviour described as “orderly and respectful.” Leadership has invested significantly in Maths over recent years — creating a dedicated block with bright classrooms, visualisers, interactive screens and small intervention spaces. The school also uses a centralised behaviour system that removes low-level disruption quickly.
ECT Support
- Fully timetabled mentor meetings each week
- Additional PPA in your induction term
- Paired teaching for the first four weeks
- Access to trust-wide Maths CPD
- Wellbeing package + protected lunch breaks
What You’ll Bring
- Confidence explaining mathematical concepts clearly
- Warmth, high expectations and a willingness to learn
- Strong routines and clarity in instructions
- Interest in contributing to clubs or challenge groups
If you’re a Maths ECT who wants to grow in a structured, supportive environment, this is an excellent starting point.
