A respected independent 11–18 school in York is seeking a passionate English Teacher to contribute to their thriving English Department.

About the School

A well-regarded independent school with an outstanding reputation for pastoral care, creativity and academic results. The English department offers both English Language and Literature at GCSE and A-Level, supported by rich library resources, annual theatre trips, debating societies and a strong culture of reading across the school.

The Role

• Teach English from KS3–KS5 across both Literature and Language
• Prepare resources for analytical, creative and comparative study units
• Mark written work and provide thorough, personalised feedback
• Support enrichment including drama productions, writing competitions and reading clubs
• Engage in departmental planning, moderation and professional development

Requirements

• Strong command of English curriculum and assessment frameworks
• Ability to teach academically able pupils in an independent school setting
• Passion for fostering creativity, critical thinking and high-quality writing
