We are currently seeking a reliable, proactive and hardworking Caretaker to join a well-established and respected secondary school in Bristol. This is a full-time, permanent position starting January 2026 (or sooner for the right candidate). About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
• Opening, securing and maintaining the school buildings and grounds
• Conducting minor repairs, maintenance tasks, painting and basic DIY
• Monitoring heating, lighting, security and fire safety systems
• Ensuring compliance with all health & safety legislation and statutory site checks
• Supervising cleaning teams and liaising with contractors where necessary
• Setting up rooms, halls and equipment for events and assemblies
• Conducting daily inspections, reporting hazards and managing work orders
• Maintaining playgrounds, car parks, pathways and outdoor spaces
• Responding quickly to emergencies, leaks, faults or site issues

This role is ideal for someone with strong practical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

Experience and Qualifications
• Previous premises, caretaking or facilities experience desirable
• Strong DIY/maintenance skill set
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Understanding of health & safety compliance
• Ability to prioritise tasks and work flexibly

Salary
Support staff scale (based on experience).
