A friendly primary school in Havering is seeking a committed Year 4 Teacher to join the Key Stage 2 team from January 2026. The Year 4 Teacher will plan coherent sequences of learning that develop pupils’ fluency in calculation, reading comprehension and written expression. The successful Year 4 Teacher will work with the phase leader to moderate standards, coordinate small-group interventions and support extra-curricular enrichment across the school and the local Havering community. Induction and planning sessions will be provided ahead of January 2026 so the Year 4 Teacher can begin the spring term effectively.

This Year 4 Teacher role offers a supportive environment, strong CPD and access to specialist subject leaders. The Year 4 Teacher will have PPA time, collaboration with experienced colleagues and opportunities to contribute to whole-school improvement.

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach sequenced Year 4 lessons that develop both procedural fluency and conceptual understanding.
• Use assessment to set clear targets and to run focused group work that accelerates progress.
• Work with TAs to scaffold learning and to meet the needs of diverse pupils.
• Take part in moderation and curriculum development across the school and Havering networks.
• Maintain constructive communication with parents and contribute to reporting cycles.

Person specification

• Qualified teacher with recent KS2 experience and strong Year 4 practice.
• Sound curriculum knowledge, excellent classroom routines and the ability to plan for progress.
• A collaborative team member who will contribute positively to the Havering school community.
• Able to start January 2026 and to attend preparatory induction sessions before January 2026.
