French Teacher (ECT) – Birmingham – January 2026

A vibrant and diverse 11–18 school in south Birmingham is seeking an enthusiastic ECT of French to join its Modern Languages team from January 2026.

The Position

You’ll deliver French at KS3–KS4, supported by detailed schemes of work and high-quality MFL resources. The department follows a phonics-based approach that helps students develop accurate pronunciation and confident speaking — with plenty of modelling and sentence-building.

The School Setting

This is a Good school known for strong behaviour systems and excellent support for new staff. The MFL department benefits from dedicated language classrooms, multimedia equipment, and access to online learning platforms for vocabulary and grammar practice.

ECT Support Includes

  • Reduced timetable + induction coaching
  • Weekly mentor meetings focusing on pedagogy and planning
  • Paired teaching opportunities in Term 1
  • Access to the citywide MFL network for additional CPD

About You

  • Strong spoken and written French
  • Clear instructional style and positive behaviour management
  • Willingness to contribute to language clubs or cultural events
  • Reflective, enthusiastic, and collaborative
