Year 3 Teacher | Southwark
We are recruiting an enthusiastic Year 3 Teacher for a friendly primary school in Southwark with a start date of January 2026. This Year 3 Teacher role offers the chance to teach a lively, mixed-ability class, plan curriculum sequences that build knowledge and fluency, and contribute to whole-school development. The successful Year 3 Teacher will work closely with the phase leader, engage with parents and help shape enrichment opportunities across the school. The appointment will begin January 2026, with induction activities scheduled in the run-up to January 2026 to ensure a smooth transition for the incoming Year 3 Teacher.

The Year 3 Teacher will design well-resourced lessons in English, mathematics and the foundation subjects, taking a data-informed approach to set ambitious targets and run targeted support groups. In Southwark, teachers benefit from strong CPD, active leadership and excellent community engagement; the Year 3 Teacher will be supported through mentoring and collaborative planning time.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver ambitious, sequenced Year 3 lessons that develop subject knowledge and skills.
- Use assessment to identify gaps and implement focused small-group support that accelerates progress.
- Work with teaching assistants to scaffold learning and ensure consistent approaches across the year group.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, contribute to moderation and communicate outcomes with families.
- Take part in enrichment activities and whole-school initiatives that enhance pupil experience in Southwark.
Person specification
- Qualified teacher with demonstrable, recent classroom success in Key Stage 2 and Year 3.
- Strong subject knowledge in English and maths and confident curriculum planning skills.
- Calm, organised practitioner with effective behaviour routines and excellent communication.
- Committed to contributing to the school community in Southwark and able to start January 2026.
