Would you like to use your SEND expertise to shape provision in a school that prioritises inclusion? A caring school in Northamptonshire is seeking an engaging and organised SENCO to start in January 2026. The SENCO will oversee identification, assessment and tailored support for pupils with additional needs while working closely with classroom staff to embed high-quality differentiation.

This SENCO role combines leadership with hands-on intervention: you will support pupils directly, coach colleagues in effective strategies, and coordinate external specialist input. The SENCO will also help to develop the school’s graduated response, ensuring resources are used effectively and that children’s progress is recorded transparently. The appointed SENCO will receive a full induction before January 2026, linking into Northamptonshire networks and services.

Responsibilities

• Lead the graduated approach: assess needs, plan interventions and review outcomes systematically.
• Coach teachers and TAs in evidence-based approaches to scaffold learning and behaviour.
• Manage external referrals, specialist visits and communication with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Maintain robust records, tracking progress and communicating impact to parents and governors.
• Contribute to policy development, SEND budgeting and resource allocation.

Person specification

• Qualified teacher with relevant SEND accreditation and experience in co-ordinating provision.
• Highly effective communicator who builds trust with families, leaders and external agencies.
• Skilled in designing and evaluating interventions and in using data to inform practice.
• Organised, resilient and committed to pupil-centred decision making within Northamptonshire schools.
• Able to commence in January 2026 and to participate in pre-term planning and training.
