The successful Year 2 Teacher will deliver an engaging, well-sequenced Year 2 programme that consolidates phonics, reading, writing and number skills. This Year 2 Teacher will plan targeted booster sessions where needed, contribute to assessment moderation, and support smooth transition into KS2. This Year 2 Teacher post will commence January 2026, with induction and planning sessions scheduled ahead of January 2026 so the successful candidate can be classroom-ready from the first day of term.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver high-impact Year 2 lessons that meet the full range of learners.
• Run focused interventions and monitor their impact on pupil outcomes.
• Keep accurate assessment records and contribute to whole-school moderation.
• Communicate progress clearly to families and work with colleagues to secure improvements.
• Participate in school events, enrichment activities and professional development.

Person specification

• QTS and proven experience teaching in KS1, preferably with Year 2 expertise.
• Strong assessment practice and an evidence-led approach to intervention.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style.
• Committed to the school community and able to work across Northamptonshire.
• Able to start January 2026 and take part in induction leading into the term.
