Design & Technology Teacher – Colchester
A well-established and forward-thinking secondary school in Colchester is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join their team immediately. This is a full-time, permanent position within a supportive DT department that values creativity, innovation, and real-world design thinking.
About the Role
You will teach DT across KS3–KS4, contributing to both theoretical learning and practical project development. The department covers a diverse range of DT strands, including Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, and introductory Engineering principles. As part of your role, you will guide students through structured design processes, build their understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques, and help them develop the confidence to prototype, evaluate, and refine their work.
Classrooms and workshops are fully equipped with:
3D printers and laser cutters
Modern CAD/CAM software
Specialist machinery for wood, metal, and plastics
Dedicated technician support
This enables teachers to deliver engaging lessons and ensures students can safely bring their ideas to life.

QTS (or strong trainee completing induction)

Salary
Paid on MPS/UPS, dependent on experience.
