Art Technician – Ipswich
A creative and well-resourced secondary school in Ipswich, Suffolk is seeking an inspiring and proactive Art Technician to support their Art & Design department immediately. This is a perfect role for someone passionate about the arts and eager to assist in a dynamic, studio-based environment.
About the Role
As the Art Technician, you will work directly with Art teachers to ensure lessons run smoothly and creatively. Your duties will include organising materials, preparing resources, arranging displays, and supporting students with practical tasks. This may involve:
Supporting work in drawing, painting, textiles, ceramics, mixed media and digital art
Preparing materials for GCSE coursework and sketchbook development
Ensuring tools, brushes, inks, clay, and equipment are clean, safe and stocked
Mounting and displaying work for exhibitions and parents’ evenings
Maintaining studio spaces to a professional standard
You play a central role in enhancing the creative environment and ensuring students have access to the materials and support they need to produce outstanding work.

Experience & Skills Needed
Creative background or practical art experience
Confidence preparing materials and supporting practical lessons
Good organisation, initiative and communication skills
Comfortable working in a lively and fast-paced studio environment
