Year 2 Teacher - Birmingham

An established Birmingham primary seeks an accomplished Year 2 Teacher to join KS1 from January 2026. The Year 2 Teacher will plan and deliver clear, knowledge-rich lessons and help pupils consolidate early literacy and maths skills. Pre-term planning occurs before January 2026, with induction scheduled in January 2026 so the Year 2 Teacher is ready to teach from January 2026.
School strengths
• Experienced KS1 phase with targeted intervention support to help the Year 2 Teacher.

• Structured CPD and coaching available to the Year 2 Teacher from January 2026.
Duties & focus
• Plan and deliver systematic phonics and scaffolded reading as the Year 2 Teacher.
• Teach sequenced writing units and build mathematical fluency as the Year 2 Teacher.
• Use formative assessment to inform interventions and monitor progress as the Year 2 Teacher.
• Lead transition activities and report pupil outcomes as the Year 2 Teacher. The Year 2 Teacher will prepare resources prior to January 2026 and will be in-class from January 2026.
Essential criteria
We require a qualified Year 2 Teacher (QTS/PGCE or equivalent) with solid KS1 experience, confident phonics delivery and excellent interpersonal skills. The Year 2 Teacher must be available for planning ahead of January 2026, for induction in January 2026, and for classroom teaching from January 2026.
