We’re seeking a creative Year 1 Teacher who will lead an enthusiastic Year 1 class and secure strong early reading and numeracy.
A week in the role (how the Year 1 Teacher spends time)
Mornings: the Year 1 Teacher leads phonics, guided reading and whole-class maths as the Year 1 Teacher. Midday: the Year 1 Teacher runs targeted interventions and liaises with support staff as the Year 1 Teacher. Afternoons: the Year 1 Teacher delivers foundation topic work and records assessment as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will attend planning sessions prior to January 2026 and induction in January 2026 so lessons run smoothly from January 2026.
Core responsibilities
• Deliver systematic phonics and guided reading as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Plan sequenced writing and practical maths lessons as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Track progress, run small-group catch-up as the Year 1 Teacher, and communicate with parents as the Year 1 Teacher.
The Year 1 Teacher will prepare assessment materials before January 2026 and begin teaching in class from January 2026.
Who we want
You’re a qualified Year 1 Teacher (QTS/PGCE or equivalent) with sound KS1 practice, confident phonics delivery and excellent behaviour management. The Year 1 Teacher should be collaborative and available for planning prior to January 2026, for induction in January 2026, and to teach from January 2026.
