Role summary - Year 1 Teacher
This Year 1 Teacher will deliver a sequence of lessons that secure essential early reading skills, confident number sense and independent learning behaviours. The Year 1 Teacher will model high-quality instruction, lead guided reading groups and run targeted interventions. The Year 1 Teacher will collaborate with the reception team to ensure smooth transition and will prepare learning resources ahead of January 2026.
Year 1 Teacher Requirements
• QTS/PGCE (or equivalent) and proven KS1 experience as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Strong, systematic phonics knowledge and effective behaviour strategies as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Availability for pre-term planning before January 2026, induction in January 2026, and to be in post from January 2026 as the Year 1 Teacher.
Year 1 Teacher Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver systematic phonics and guided reading as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Create sequenced writing and mathematics units that build fluency and reasoning as the Year 1 Teacher.
• Track progress, run timely interventions and communicate with families as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will take part in moderation and reporting cycles from January 2026 and will contribute to whole-school initiatives as the Year 1 Teacher.
