Learning Support Assistant – Belper, Derbyshire – January 2026
A welcoming and inclusive 11–18 school in Belper is looking for a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join its SEND department from January 2026.
The school has a strong reputation for inclusion and pastoral care, providing a supportive environment for both students and staff.
The Role
You’ll work closely with teachers and the SENCo to support students with a range of learning needs. This role involves both one-to-one and small-group interventions, helping young people to achieve academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support for students with additional learning needs
- Implement EHCP and classroom strategies in collaboration with staff
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive relationships
- Contribute to progress tracking and communication with parents/carers
About You
- Previous experience supporting students with SEND is desirable
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Empathy, patience and adaptability in supporting diverse needs
- Team player committed to inclusion and student success
