Are you an enthusiastic and motivated English ECT looking to begin your teaching career in an inspiring and supportive environment?
An Outstanding Ofsted-rated girls’ secondary school in Merton (ages 11–18) is seeking a dedicated and creative English Teacher (ECT) to join their successful English Department from January 2026.

The Role
As a English ECT, you will:
- Teach engaging and well-planned lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially Key Stage 5.
- Inspire students to develop a deep appreciation for reading, writing, and critical thinking.
- Contribute to the ongoing success of a collaborative and high-achieving English Department.
- Participate fully in school life, including enrichment activities and extra-curricular clubs.
- Receive tailored guidance, training, and mentoring from experienced colleagues.
Requirements
- Is completing their PGCE or equivalent qualification and will hold QTS by January 2026.
- Has a genuine passion for English and for helping young people reach their potential.
- Demonstrates creativity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Is a strong communicator with excellent classroom management skills.
- Values teamwork and is eager to contribute to a supportive learning community.
