Year 1 Teacher — Peterborough — January 2026 start
A friendly Good primary in Peterborough is seeking a reflective and engaging Year 1 Teacher to join its KS1 phase on a Part-Time basis from January 2026. This Part-Time Year 1 Teacher role offers a balanced workload while enabling the Year 1 Teacher to deliver high-quality, focused teaching from January 2026. The appointed Year 1 Teacher will be invited to pre-term planning prior to January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and commence classroom teaching from January 2026 on the agreed Part-Time timetable.

The Part-Time Year 1 Teacher post is designed for practitioners seeking sustainability without sacrificing impact. The Year 1 Teacher will lead phonics, guided reading and early writing units; the Year 1 Teacher will run targeted interventions and contribute to assessment cycles beginning before January 2026 and continuing after January 2026. The Part-Time Year 1 Teacher will still attend core phase meetings and parents’ evenings and will be included in CPD scheduled from January 2026.
Day to day — Year 1 Teacher
Mornings: the Year 1 Teacher leads systematic phonics and shared reading sessions as the Year 1 Teacher. Afternoons: the Year 1 Teacher plans creative application in writing and practical maths tasks as the Year 1 Teacher. The Year 1 Teacher will work closely with TAs to ensure all pupils make excellent progress and will contribute to transition liaison ahead of January 2026.
Person specification — Year 1 Teacher
We are looking for a Year 1 Teacher with QTS and recent KS1 experience. The Year 1 Teacher should be a strong phonics practitioner, organised and able to adapt learning for diverse learners. The Year 1 Teacher must be available for pre-term planning before January 2026, induction in January 2026, and to teach from January 2026 on a Part-Time basis.
