About the School
A high-achieving and forward-thinking 11–18 secondary school in Reading, with 1,500 students on roll and an Ofsted rating of “Outstanding,” is seeking a Design & Technology ECT to join their Technology Faculty from January 2026. The school has a well-established reputation for excellence in STEM subjects, with GCSE results consistently above national averages and a Sixth Form that sends a significant proportion of students to Russell Group universities. The Technology Department is housed in a modern building equipped with 3D printers, CAD/CAM facilities, and advanced engineering tools.
About the Role
This full-time, permanent role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career teacher to develop their craft in a supportive and innovative environment. You will teach DT across KS3–KS5, specialising in Product Design or Engineering. Lessons will blend creative design with hands-on technical application, encouraging students to think critically and produce work of high quality.
The school’s ECT induction includes personalised mentoring, weekly training sessions, and peer observation opportunities across departments. Staff collaborate on interdisciplinary STEM projects, and new teachers are encouraged to take part in enrichment initiatives such as design exhibitions and national competitions.
Candidate Requirements
• PGCE with QTS (or pending) in Design & Technology, Product Design, or Engineering
• Excellent technical and creative teaching skills
• Strong understanding of modern design software
• Enthusiasm for innovation and cross-disciplinary learning
