Role summary — Year 6 Teacher
The Year 6 Teacher will design ambitious revision and curriculum units, lead SATs preparation where applicable, and run targeted booster groups as the Year 6 Teacher. The Year 6 Teacher will co-ordinate transition to secondary school, work with pastoral staff and communicate with families in the weeks around January 2026 and continuing after January 2026. The Full-Time Year 6 Teacher will be included in leadership meetings and school improvement activities beginning January 2026.
Leadership and CPD for the Year 6 Teacher
This role is ideal for a Year 6 Teacher looking to progress into middle leadership. The Year 6 Teacher will be supported with leadership coaching, opportunities for curriculum leadership and access to a development budget for courses after January 2026. The Year 6 Teacher will lead moderation and will mentor colleagues, using data to inform teaching and to close attainment gaps following the January 2026 start.
Classroom impact and community for the Year 6 Teacher
As Year 6 Teacher you will create a culture of high expectations, resilience and independence. The Year 6 Teacher will run revision clubs, coordinate peer tutoring and lead transition evenings with secondary colleagues in the weeks before January 2026 and after January 2026. The Year 6 Teacher will also contribute to extra-curricular provision which enriches pupils' broader development and community links after January 2026.
Person specification — Year 6 Teacher
We are seeking a Year 6 Teacher with QTS, proven record of improving Upper KS2 outcomes and strong classroom leadership. The successful Year 6 Teacher will be organised, data literate and an effective communicator with parents and partners. The Year 6 Teacher must be available for pre-term planning prior to January 2026, induction in January 2026, and to commence teaching from January 2026 as a Full-Time Year 6 Teacher.
