An accomplished Independent School in Peterborough is looking for a creative and reflective Year 1 Teacher to join its KS1 phase on a Full-Time contract from January 2026. This Year 1 Teacher role at the Independent School offers small class sizes, strong pastoral care and bespoke CPD. The successful Year 1 Teacher will take part in pre-term planning before January 2026, attend a comprehensive induction in January 2026, and be fully teaching from January 2026 as a Full-Time Year 1 Teacher. (Year 1 Teacher) Responsibilities
The Year 1 Teacher will plan and deliver daily systematic phonics, guided reading and engaging writing units. The Year 1 Teacher will teach number and problem-solving, use formative assessment to identify gaps and run targeted interventions. As Year 1 Teacher, you will work closely with parents, contribute to enrichment activities and support transition from Reception into Year 1. The Year 1 Teacher will begin planning before January 2026, attend the induction week in January 2026, and be in post from January 2026 as a committed Full-Time Year 1 Teacher.

(Year 1 Teacher) Requirements & profile
We seek a Year 1 Teacher with QTS (or equivalent), strong KS1 experience and confident phonics practice. The Year 1 Teacher should be organised, creative and able to model excellent interactions. This Independent School expects the Year 1 Teacher to be proactive in planning for the January 2026 start, and to engage in mentoring and CPD provided from January 2026.

Contract & start
This is a Full-Time Year 1 Teacher vacancy beginning January 2026. The Independent School will run a structured induction in January 2026 and continue professional support after January 2026 to ensure the Year 1 Teacher flourishes.
