Job Overview
The school is looking for a dynamic and visionary Head of Religious Studies to lead a thriving department from January. You will oversee the teaching of Religious Studies across Key Stages 3 to 5, nurturing intellectual curiosity and fostering a love for philosophical and ethical inquiry among a motivated and respectful student body.

Your Role as Head of Religious Studies
- Lead and inspire the Religious Studies Department with vision, enthusiasm, and academic rigour.
- Deliver outstanding lessons across Key Stages 3–5, modelling excellence in teaching and learning.
- Oversee curriculum design and development, ensuring it remains challenging, inclusive, and forward-looking.
- Mentor and support staff within the department, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Organise and promote enrichment activities, including talks, workshops, and trips that enhance philosophical and ethical understanding.
- Contribute to the wider Humanities Faculty and the school’s strategic development.
Experience and Qualifications
- A degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a closely related discipline.
- A formal teaching qualification with QTS (e.g. PGCE).
- Proven experience teaching Religious Studies up to A Level.
- Demonstrable leadership or departmental management experience.
- Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A deep passion for Religious Studies and a commitment to fostering critical, open-minded inquiry.
- The legal right to work in the UK.
