Year 1 Teacher – Independent School – Manchester – January 2026 Start

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a motivated Year 1 Teacher to join an established Independent School in Manchester on a Full-Time basis from January 2026. This Year 1 Teacher vacancy at the Independent School is designed for a practitioner who delivers high-impact phonics, early reading and creative curriculum experiences. The successful Year 1 Teacher will begin planning and induction prior to January 2026, and will be teaching from January 2026 in a supportive, well-resourced Independent School environment.

This Independent School in Manchester combines a strong academic core with a pastoral culture. The Year 1 Teacher will benefit from small classes, high staff: pupil ratios and a leadership team committed to staff development. For the Year 1 Teacher, the school provides tailored CPD, coaching and a clear career pathway from January 2026.

The role — what the Year 1 Teacher will do
• As Year 1 Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, systematic phonics and early reading lessons.
• The Year 1 Teacher will teach maths, writing and foundation subjects with creativity and rigour.
• The Year 1 Teacher will assess progress, run targeted interventions and liaise with families.
• The Year 1 Teacher will contribute to enrichment, clubs and whole-school events from January 2026.

Person specification
We seek a Year 1 Teacher with QTS (or equivalent), strong KS1 experience, and a passion for early primary learning. The Year 1 Teacher will demonstrate excellent behaviour management, assessment for learning, and the ability to create a calm, joyful classroom.

Contract & practicalities
This is a Full-Time Year 1 Teacher post starting January 2026. The Full-Time Year 1 Teacher will take part in induction in the weeks leading up to January 2026, and the Independent School will provide mentoring throughout the spring term. The Full-Time Year 1 Teacher contract offers stability and professional development.
