Maths Teacher – Drive Rigorous Extension Maths (STEP/MAT) in a High-Performing Independent School – Birmingham

A highly academic, fee-paying independent day school in Birmingham is seeking an exceptional Maths Teacher with a focus on Challenging Extension and competitive university preparation from January 2026.

  • Mathematics Specialist required from January 2026
  • Birmingham-based independent school with a rigorous focus on advanced pure and applied Maths.
  • Ideal for a teacher passionate about Challenging Extension material (STEP/MAT) and Oxbridge/Russell Group entry.

You will teach Mathematics across KS3–KS5 (A-Level and Further Maths), with a significant focus on preparing the highest ability students for Maths Olympiads and STEP/MAT entrance exams. The role involves designing and leading challenging extension sessions, contributing to the school's rigorous academic culture, and mentoring students through complex problem-solving.

Experience and Qualifications

  • QTS (or equivalent) and a degree in Mathematics (Masters degree highly desirable).
  • Proven ability to teach and achieve top results at A-Level Further Maths.
  • Extensive experience with the STEP/MAT preparation or leading Maths extension groups.
  • Commitment to maintaining a stimulating and intellectually rigorous classroom.
