An ambitious Independent School in Wandsworth is seeking an outstanding Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead to join its KS2 faculty on a Full-Time basis from January 2026. This is a leadership-tinged classroom role for an experienced Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead who relishes both excellent classroom practice and whole-school numeracy development. The Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead will be pivotal from January 2026 in shaping mathematical thinking across the school.

Role summary for the Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead
The Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead will teach a motivated Year 5 class and lead on the design, implementation and evaluation of mathematics pedagogy across key stages. As Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead, you will model high quality lessons, mentor colleagues, run in-house CPD and design a coherent numeracy progression. From January 2026, the Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead will begin handover, planning and department meetings; the Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead** will teach from January 2026, lead moderation from January 2026, and contribute to whole-school assessment strategy from January 2026.

Key responsibilities (Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead)

  • As Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead, plan and deliver rigorous, engaging maths and broader Year 5 lessons.
  • As Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead, mentor staff, model best practice and lead numeracy CPD.
  • As Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead, use data to identify gaps and deliver targeted interventions.
  • As Year 5 Teacher / Maths Lead, contribute to enrichment, maths clubs and parent workshops.
