The Opportunity
An excellent independent day school in the North West is seeking an inspiring English Teacher to join its successful English faculty from January 2026. This full-time, permanent post offers the opportunity to teach English across Key Stages 3–5 (GCSE and A-Level) within a dynamic, high-performing department that values intellectual curiosity, creativity, and excellence.
What We’re Looking For
The school is seeking a teacher who:
- Holds a recognised teaching qualification (QTS / PGCE / equivalent)
- Has excellent subject knowledge across English literature and language
- Can deliver engaging and academically challenging lessons that inspire confidence and independence
- Uses assessment and feedback to help every pupil achieve their personal best
- Contributes positively to departmental planning and wider school life
Experience with creative writing, debating, public speaking or theatre collaboration would be an advantage.

The Role in More Detail
You will plan and deliver engaging English lessons across all key stages, encouraging students to think critically, write creatively and read widely. You will prepare students for public examinations, support them in developing strong analytical and communication skills, and contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental resources.
There will be scope to take an active role in the wider life of the school, through debating, writing clubs, theatre productions, or literary events, helping to strengthen the department’s already rich cultural offering.
