Are you an experienced teacher with a passion for supporting students with additional needs? A well-regarded secondary school in Oxford is seeking a committed SENCo to lead its provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent leadership role offering the chance to make a real difference in a school that places inclusion and student wellbeing at the heart of its ethos.
The Role
Full-time SENCo position, starting January 2026
Lead and manage the school’s SEND provision across KS3–KS5
Work closely with senior leaders, classroom teachers, and support staff to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for all students
Oversee EHCPs, access arrangements, and interventions for students with additional needs
Coordinate with parents, external agencies, and the local authority to provide effective support and guidance
Train and develop staff to ensure inclusive practice is embedded across the school

Situated in the historic city of Oxford, this popular secondary school educates over 1,200 students, including a strong Sixth Form. Rated Good by Ofsted, the school is recognised for its inclusive approach, excellent pastoral care, and commitment to raising achievement for all learners. The leadership team places great emphasis on staff wellbeing, professional development, and collaborative working. The SEND department is highly valued within the school community, with dedicated teaching assistants, small-group spaces, and resources to support a wide range of needs.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete)
Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice
Experience in developing and leading effective interventions and support strategies
Excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills
A leader who can inspire both staff and students and foster a culture of inclusion
