About the Role This highly prestigious State Grammar School in Birmingham, founded nearly 500 years ago, is looking for a dynamic and inspirational Economics Teacher to join its community on a permanent, full-time basis starting 01 January 2026.
The school is renowned for its intellectual ambition and excellence, providing an ambitious and well-rounded curriculum designed to help pupils excel as citizens and leaders. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills to teach throughout the age range, with a particular focus on A-Level instruction. ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Teach a rigorous and challenging Economics curriculum, primarily focused on A-Level and preparing students for top university entrance.
- Engage, enthuse, and motivate highly able pupils, encouraging them to be resilient and develop strong analytical skills.
- Contribute to the school's mission of preparing pupils to flourish in an interconnected and fast-changing world by contextualizing economic concepts.
- Work collaboratively within a supportive and talented teaching team to deliver excellent public examination results.
- Participate in the extensive co-curricular life of the school, supporting leadership, volunteering, or academic societies.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent and a relevant degree specialism in Economics or a related discipline.
- Proven ability (or clear potential for an ECT) to teach Economics to A-Level.
- Passionate about learning and able to demonstrate a range of effective teaching and behaviour management strategies.
- A commitment to the values of excellence, equality, diversity, and inclusion within a warm school community.
- Strong desire for continuous professional career development.
